Myanmar / Burma Relief and Welfare Association (MBRWA) is a non-political, non-denominational and non-governmental humanitarian organisation. Its aims and objectives are to work for the social care and development of Myanmarese / Burmese people.
Although people from Burma have been migrating to the UK for decades, statistical records of the community are insufficient and very sketchy. Because of its absence in the authorities’ record books, the Burmese Diaspora are most of the time left out in resource allocations, planning of services and other development and capacity building support enjoyed by other minority ethnic communities who are settled in the UK.
MBRWA is an initiative to secure proper recognition of the existence of the substantial number of people with Burmese origins who have been contributing members of British society for many years. Like other migrant communities, this community also have their particular needs and wants which remain marginalised most of the time. MBRWA is working to address these issues.
